Rautenberg Moritz & Co. advises Mercurius and further shareholders on the sale of GVG Glasfaser to Palladio Partners.

The Rautenberg Moritz & Co. team advised Mercurius Private Equity and further shareholders of GVG Glasfaser on the sale to Palladio Partners. Signing of the transaction already took place in September 2019, Closing on 10th December 2019.

Mercurius Group was founded in 2004 and has since developed into a leading private equity firm for the development of promising business concepts. The firm acts as an active sparring partner which provides strategic know-how and guide in addition to its funding activities. Successful (former) investments of Mercurius include Cytori Therapeutics, the EQS Group, Frogster Interactive Pictures as well as casual food. Currently, the firm manages a portfolio of ten active investments.

Kiel-based GVG Glasfaser GmbH realizes fibre projects mostly in underserved rural areas. The company offers triple-play-services via their own brand “nordischnet”, on a newly-deployed high-bandwidth fibre infrastructure. GVG manages more than 150,000 homes passed, of which approx. 40,000 are already contracted, and is heavily investing in a continued fibre build-out. The company was founded in 2011 and currently employs more than 150 employees, their subsidiary 2locate included.

Palladio GmbH is an owner-managed investment boutique, specializing on independent advice to German institutional investors in tangible assets.

Our team around Arndt Rautenberg and Gero Steinröder prepared the company systematically for the transaction in the course of an exit readiness program, comprising a strategy calibration and the consecutive business planning. In cooperation with our project partner KPMG and the team around Florian Frei, we supported the sellers comprehensively as advisors and led the entire M&A process up to the successful completion of the transaction.
